Energen Awards Employee Grants - February 2008


Energen recently awarded grants to twelve employees through the company's Volunteer Investment Program (VIP), which began in October 1997 as an extension of Energen's corporate contribution efforts.

The program's purpose is to contribute to the community by providing limited financial support to the non-profit organizations to which Energen and subsidiary employees volunteer their time.

Employees and organizations receiving the grant are:

Jeff Baker, Alagasco construction mechanic - Leeds, received a $500 grant for the Springville High School varsity boys’ basketball team to purchase shoes for the players. 

Terry Clayton, Alagasco measurement and control technician I - General Office, received a $500 grant to purchase team equipment for the Gadsden City High baseball team.

Wallace Jones, Alagasco operations supervisor – Montgomery, received a $500 grant for the Edgewood Academy baseball team to help purchase jerseys for the boys’ varsity baseball team. 

Lynn Lovelady, Alagasco director enterprise applications - General Office, received a $500 grant for the Storm baseball team to assist in the purchase of team uniforms.   

Wayne Nevels, Alagasco measurement and control technician III - Phenix City, received a $500 grant to help pay for uniforms for the Smith Station High School Diamond Club ninth grade baseball team. 

Chris Rose, Alagasco, crewman - Birmingham Western Operations Center, received a $500 grant for the Pleasant Grove High School Baseball Boosters to purchase uniforms.

Bryan Rotenberry, Alagasco construction journeyman - Birmingham, received a $500 grant for the Hueytown Quarterback Club to purchase supplies for the field house and weight room.

Rob Wall, Alagasco construction journeyman - Birmingham, received a $500 grant for the Hueytown Middle School softball team to purchase equipment and uniforms. 

Todd Kircus, Alagasco collector/dispatcher/storekeeper - Anniston, received a $500 grant for the Crush Girls softball team to equipment and uniforms.

Grants are awarded to employees who volunteer at least 40 hours a year to eligible organizations. Eligible organizations include schools, charitable, non-profit or community organizations that provide a public service.
