San Juan Basin

The San Juan Basin is Energen Resources’ largest area of operation with proved reserves of 871 Bcfe, representing 55 percent of the company’s total proved reserves.

Energen Resources first established a presence in the San Juan Basin in 1997 with the acquisition of 319 Bcfe of proved reserves from Burlington Resources. The company has substantially expanded its operations through subsequent acquisitions and successful development.

Now the 4th largest gas producer in the basin, Energen Resources produced 50 Bcfe of primarily natural gas and natural gas liquids in 2008 and estimates that 2009 production will increase to 53 Bcfe. 

The company's reserves-to-production ratio in the San Juan Basin exceeds 17 years.
